Randy Carsch, DVM

Dr. Carsch received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M in 1980. After graduation, he moved to the Pacific Northwest (Redmond, WA) and, in 1985, purchased first clinic for $76,000. It was a small animal practice in a 1200 square foot lease space in a shopping center. Twelve yeas later it was doing over $800K. Along the way he bought a practice, sold a practice, merged a practice and started a practice from scratch. As a practice owner he used numerous consultants from within the field and outside the field to assist him in his growth as an owner.

After selling his practice 1998, he has consulted clinics ranging from 300k up to $1.8 million. Seeing their financials and being involved with many different practices, Dr. Carsch began to notice a lot of similarities in the practices. He designed modules and systems to get the doctors and staff on the same page. By allowing everyone in the practice to have an input and customize the modules to the clinic's philosophy, the clinic gross increased by an average of 22% and upward to 40% in some hospitals. A major change was a decrease to the stress of the owner and staff and everyone functioning as a team where each member understood their role.

Dr. Carsch served on the Task Force on Veterinary Economics for the State of Texas 2003 under Michael Joyner, the DVM President at that time. He worked with corporate clients to develop pilot programs for Veterinary Hospitals. Topics included Inventory Control, Fair Fees, and Designing, Implementing, Tracking Your Clinic Dental Month and Designing, Implementing, Marketing and Tracking Geriatric and Wellness Programs. Dr. Carsch has been a speaker at the Burns Veterinary Supply Dental Seminar, a seminar presenter with Veterinary Brokers and Certified Public Accountants on the business side of Veterinary Medicine, and has been a guest speaker to numerous Veterinary chapters in the Northwest.
